An affordable, self-guided alternative to talk therapy.
The Writing for Healing system is designed to be customized for each participant. When you tell your confidential therapist about your trauma and stress, they’ll design a six-week program to help you achieve your goals.
You’ll have the opportunity to explore several forms of writing to find what works best for you, including poetry, short stories, journaling and free-association.
Keeping your pain and trauma bottled up has been shown to lead to conditions like depression, anxiety, addiction, high-blood pressure, chronic headaches, digestive problems and even reduced lifespan.
Studies have shown writing therapy creates long-term improvement to physical health, emotional well-being and a greater sense of value and purpose.
International Writing THERAPISTS ASSOCIATION
WritingForHealing.org is the home of the IWTA, a group of therapists and counselors who have completed both the patient and therapist programs of Writing Therapy and have been certified to use our system to help their own clients. When you contact us to start our program, we’ll connect you with the best therapist for you, based on their areas of experience and expertise.
Author Tweed Jefferson wrote two novels in 2020, using his teen and young-adult years as inspiration. Unknowingly, the process of writing about his trauma helped him recover from the depression and anxiety he’d been suffering from for over twenty years. Using his writing process and other creative exercises, we developed the Writing for Healing system to help others recover from their trauma and stressors in an affordable and self-managed way that can be done at your own pace.
